“Envy” (The Nereid and the Siren) is a contemporary figurative painting depicting a Nereid lost in thought and a Siren who looks on with envy at the Nereid for being more beautiful than she is. The Nereid doesn’t even notice the siren’s presence. The siren glares maliciously at the Nereid; she surely has an evil plan against her. The atmosphere is peaceful, but the beginnings of a storm can be seen in the background. The siren surely comes from that place—gray and colorless, just like her skin and her heart.
